African Association highlights key contributors to peace, security, and development

At the upcoming conference “The Future of Lobbying,” Obi Onyeigwe from Nigeria will present his contribution on behalf of the organization YOUPEDA – Youths for Peace Building & Development in Africa.
The organization “Youth for Peace Building and Development in Africa” (YOUPEDA) invests its impressive efforts in the fight for peace, security, and sustainable development across the African continent.
Registered in Nigeria since 2008, YOUPEDA has grown from a small organization into a national force that contributes to addressing key societal issues. With a focus on peace innovations, conflict prevention, health, climate change, gender-based violence, and many other issues, YOUPEDA stands out as a leader among non-governmental organizations in Africa.
Innovative Programs for Sustainable Change
YOUPEDA has developed and implemented unique programs covering a wide range of topics, including peace and conflict resolution, organized crime, governance, human rights, education, and climate change. With a strategic plan for 2021-2023, the organization has set goals to strengthen its institutional base, expand its influence at local and national levels, support sexual and reproductive health and rights, empower communities in conflict prevention, and promote agro-local engagement.
Digital Peace and Partnerships for Sustainable Development
One of the key features of YOUPEDA is their commitment to digital peace and technology. The organization uses technological tools for training, analysis, and achieving transformative impacts in communities. Through partnerships with World Faith, YOUPEDA implements programs to support women in agriculture, providing sustainable solutions and improving living conditions.

The establishment of the Women’s Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (VOSACCOFEM) and support for women in agriculture represent concrete steps towards achieving sustainable development.

Through participation in international exchange programs, adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2250, and partnerships with relevant organizations, YOUPEDA positions itself as a key player in achieving sustainable development in Africa.
In the coming years, YOUPEDA plans to develop a new strategic plan (2024-2026), further strengthening its ability to face challenges and contribute to positive change in African communities.
