Abstract
Corruption is the focus of this paper due to its effects on the functioning of the community and the quality of life of its members. It represents a global security problem as it manifests in all states of the modern world, regardless of their level of development and democratic traditions. There are certain variations in the effects of corruption depending on the strength of the state and its institutions to combat this negative phenomenon. Developed countries are not immune to corruption, but they have functional mechanisms to keep it under control.
Corruption is most prevalent in systems that serve to meet public interests. The concept of human security provides a good analytical framework that can contribute to determining the level of corruption, its effects, and causes.
In this paper, we have chosen three dimensions of human security that best illustrate the causes and consequences of corrupt practices. Based on the research results, it can be said that there are certain cause-and-effect relationships between the nature of the political system and economic conditions that favor the development of corruption. The most significant consequence of corruption is the reduction of public funds, which is most drastically manifested in the functioning of the healthcare system.
Keywords: corruption, human security, politics, economy, healthcare system.
